Fuel carriers join truckers strike on Day 2

The nationwide indefinite strike called by truckers entered the second day on Tuesday with unions disregarding the government's threat to invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) if needed against the strikers. "We will continue our nationwide strike until our demands are met," said Charan Singh Lohara, the president of All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), the apex body of truckers.

Govt to pump in Rs 100,000 cr in 100 days for economy

Orissa nun identifies 2 Kandhamal rape suspects

A nun who was raped during last year's communal violence in Orissa identified two people during a test identification parade of the suspects on Monday, police and officials said. The identification parade was held in the central jail at Choudwar in Cuttack district, some 30 km here, in the presence of a magistrate, police said.
