A city criminal claiming to be a henchman of international gangster Dawood Ibrahim threatened India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's family for money, said the police on Wednesday. Mohammad Tasleem threatened to blow up the cricketer's residence in Ranchi if he was not given Rs 50 lakh. Tasleem allegedly sent two letters to Dhoni's residence: one on Monday and another on Wednesday.

The Army has ordered a probe into the shooting of a college student , who died when guards shot him when he 'intruded' into a brigadier's residence. The probe will look into whether the guards could have handled the situation differently. Army guards shot dead Mohammed Mukkharam, a 20-year-old student who was drag racing, early Sunday for intruding into the house of a brigadier and trying to escape when asked to surrender, a senior police official said.
