Hyderabad / New Delhi: A day after twin blasts rocked Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy condemned the attack and called it a heinous act by terrorist groups.

“International organisations are interested in destabilising the country. Available information points to terrorist organisations in Bangladesh and Pakistan,” Reddy said adding no arrests have been made so far.

Expressing deep sorrow over the blasts, Reddy announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of those killed in the explosions and Rs 20,000 each to the injured.

The Chief Minister also promised government jobs for one member from the family of the deceased along with free treatment at all hospitals for the injured.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened across the state as Sunday happens to be an auspicious day for weddings and over 1,000 marriages are scheduled in the city. It also includes the wedding of Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu's son Lokesh.

The state Cabinet has also decided not to attend any wedding except mass weddings in Hyderabad. Security has been beefed up for mass marriages taking place in the city.

After the Mecca Masjid blast and Saturday’s twin blasts questions are now being raised about the security situation in Hyderabad.

The Intelligence Bureau had sent a specific alert to the Andhra Pradesh Police early this week on possible terror attacks in the city.

While the security at public places in Hyderabad was reportedly lax, the security arrangement for VIPs was increased.

The Andhra Pradesh government, earlier this week, also approved a plan to enhance security for the Chief Minister. The total number of security personnel guarding Reddy was increased to 338.

Senior police officials also got unprecedented security. CNN-IBN has learnt that security for the Police Commissioner was tightened to such a level that no one was being allowed to enter his office premises without identity cards.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Shivraj Patil is expected to visit Hyderabad on Sunday. He said he would speak about investigations once he comes back from the city.

“Our condolences go to the families of the victims. I'm going to Hyderabad today. I'll give you more information once I come back. Home Ministry officials will brief you by afternoon,” Shivraj Patil said.

The Opposition BJP, too, lost no time in making the most of the situation and said the recurring terror attacks are a result of the Centre’s alleged soft policy on terror.

“It is because of the soft attitude that was adopted over the years that this sort of things happen in the country and particularly in Hyderabad. So, it is time to understand the seriousness and gravity of the challenge thrown on our country. We should all stand united and then see to it that strongest action is taken against these forces." BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said.
